Common questions

What do I need?

An iPhone with iOS 26 or later and an Apple Music subscription.

Is there an Android version?

No, and none is planned. Slugger is iPhone only.

Do walk-up songs need to be downloaded?

No. Search all of Apple Music when you choose a song. Songs that aren't downloaded need a signal to play, and show an orange cloud. To play without a signal, tap Get Song on the player's page, or Get All Songs on the team's page, then download them in the Music app. Choose Downloaded above the search to see only songs already on your iPhone.

How do I share a team with another parent or coach?

Open the team, tap More (•••), then Share Team. Choose a role and send the invitation link in Messages or email. Viewers can play walk-ups; editors can also change songs, announcements, batting order, and the bench; admins can also add players and invite people. Links work for 7 days, and you can cancel one anytime. The person only needs Slugger on their iPhone; they don't have to sign in.

Can I bring in my roster from GameChanger?

Yes. Take a screenshot in GameChanger of the Team tab (players and numbers) or a game's lineup or Box Score (batting order), then in Slugger open the team, tap More (•••), and choose Import from GameChanger. You'll check every match before anything is saved. Screenshots are read on your iPhone and never uploaded.

Can I start a new season with the same players?

Open last season's team, tap More (•••), then Duplicate Team. The copy keeps the players, songs, and announcements, and the original stays as it is.

What does Clean Songs Only do?

It's a team setting (open the team, tap Edit, then Team Settings) for leagues that don't allow explicit songs. Every phone on the team hides explicit songs when choosing one, and flags any already chosen so you can swap in the clean version from Apple Music.

Do I need an account?

No. Tap Create a Team or Join a Team and start; Slugger keeps your teams for this iPhone. To use them on an iPad or a new iPhone, sign in with Apple (the person icon on the Teams list, then Account). Slugger never sees your name or email. Without signing in, erasing or losing the iPhone loses its teams.

How do I leave a team someone shared with me?

Open the team, tap More (•••), then Leave Team. You'd need a new invitation to rejoin.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Each lineup is saved on your iPhone, so walk-ups play offline, and you can change the batting order and bench players without a signal; those changes sync when you're back online. Adding players or changing songs needs a connection.

The fade doesn't seem to change the speaker's volume.

Fades use the iPhone's volume. Some Bluetooth speakers keep their own volume, so set the speaker loud enough and let the iPhone do the fading.

A phone call stopped the song.

iOS pauses music for calls and other audio. Tap the player again to restart their walk-up.

Does it work with Spotify?

No, and there are no plans to add it. Slugger uses Apple Music only, so playback, fades, and offline use are dependable.
