Slugger helps the adults who run a team manage its walk-up songs. It collects only what it needs to do that, and it never sells your information or shows ads.
What Slugger stores
- Your account: a random identifier Slugger makes for your account. You can use Slugger without signing in; if you sign in with Apple, also the anonymous identifier Apple provides. Slugger doesn't ask Apple for your name or email, so it never has them.
- Your teams: team names and seasons, and each player's name, optional jersey number, batting order, and whether they're benched.
- Walk-up songs: the Apple Music song you pick for each player (its identifier in your Apple Music library, title, artist, and album) and the clip's start, end, and fade times.
- Announcements (optional): if you turn one on for a player, the text you want spoken and how it plays (timing, delay, and loudness). If you record your own voice instead, the recording stays on your iPhone and is never uploaded.
- Shared teams (optional): if you share a team or join one, the name you choose to show on that team (like "Coach Dan"), your role, and the invitations you create: their role, when they expire, and how many people joined with them. An invitation link's secret is stored only in a scrambled form that can't be turned back into the link.
This information is stored on Slugger's server so it's there on every device you sign in on, and a copy is saved on your iPhone so your lineup plays without a signal.
What Slugger doesn't collect
- No advertising, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No analytics about how you use the app.
- No location, contacts, or photos. The microphone is used only while you record an announcement, and the recording stays on your iPhone.
- If you import a lineup from GameChanger screenshots, they're read on your iPhone and never uploaded. Only the players and batting order you confirm are saved.
- Your IP address is used only briefly, to limit repeated sign-in attempts, and isn't stored.
- Nothing about your Apple Music listening. Songs play on your iPhone through Apple Music and are never uploaded.
Crash and error reports
When Slugger crashes, freezes, or hits an error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry, a service that helps us find and fix problems. A report describes what went wrong (the type of error, where in the app it happened, the last few screens or actions before it, such as "Game Day" or "Song picker", and the app and iOS versions and iPhone model). Slugger also passes along the performance diagnostics iOS provides, such as why the app froze or used too much memory. Reports don't include your name, email, account, IP address, or any team or player names, and they aren't used to identify you or to track you. Reports are deleted after 30 days.
Players and children
Slugger is for the adults who run a team. Players don't have accounts; their names are entered by the team's adults, and only those adults can see them. First names or nicknames work fine if you prefer not to use full names.
Who can see your team
You, and the adults you invite. Until you share a team, only you can see it. When you invite someone, they can see the team, its players, walk-up songs, and announcement text, and the names and roles of everyone on the team. The role you give them decides what they can change. Recorded announcements stay on the iPhone that recorded them and aren't shared.
Anyone with an invitation link can join the team until the link expires (after 7 days) or you cancel it, so send it only to people you trust. Removing someone from the team or cancelling a link takes effect right away, though a phone that's offline keeps its saved copy of the lineup until it next connects.
Invitation links open on Slugger's website. The part of the link that lets someone join comes after a "#", which web browsers never send to any server, so it isn't recorded there.
We don't share your information with anyone else, except the service providers that run Slugger: Cloudflare, which carries the app's connection to Slugger's server, hosts this website, and stores the server's encrypted nightly backups, and Sentry, for crash and error reports. We also share information if the law requires it.
Deleting your information
Deleting a player or team removes it from the server right away, for everyone on the team. Leaving a team you joined removes you from it, along with the name you showed on it. You can delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete Account): it removes your account right away, along with the teams you own (for everyone on them) and your place on teams you joined, and ends Slugger's Sign in with Apple access if you signed in with Apple. Backups, which may still contain deleted information, are kept for 30 days and then erased.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
